An Ode To Otto

An experiment with modern-minimalist styles.

Recently I've been digging mid-century modern-minimalist styles.

A style pioneered by Herb Lubalin, Cipe Pineles, Willy Fleckhaus

To experiment with this style, I needed a theme / subject.

I recently came across Otto Lilienthal.

His research pretty much helped humans decipher flight.

He didn't stick to just theories / lectures / sketches.

Dude built/tested gliders himself. ie. A total bad ass.

Unfortunately in 1896 he was killed while testing a glider.

His work went on to inspire the Wright Brothers.

Today his tombstone reads: "Opfer müssen gebracht werden"

ie. "Sacrifices must be made".

Hope you enjoy "An Ode to Otto". Download a print ready file here.
